Riti 9.0: Department of Computer Science, Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur hosted the ninth edition of our Annual Intercollegiate Techno fest “Riti 9.0” on 27 August 2024. Around 300 students participated in the fest from various colleges in and out Kerala.
EIGHT BITS 2K24: Department of Computer Science, Vimala College (Autonomous), Thrissur hosted the exhibition “EIGHT BITS 2K24” as a part of “VISMAYAM 2K24” on 22nd August 2024. We were motivated to perform the exhibition with more vigor and passion after an incredible response from all participating schools.
Silver Jubilee & Association Day 2024: The silver jubilee celebrations and association day for 2024-25 were inaugurated by Mr.Biju Geevarghese, Principal Vidya Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir Irinjalakuda on 10 July 2024.
MISS TECHIE 3.0: The Department of Computer Science conducted a programme “Miss Techie 3.O” on 5 July 2024. The event intended to find the most technically competent student, in the Computer Science Department with strong willpower. Ms. Megha K V of 5th semester BSc Computer Science was declared as MISS TECHIE 3.0
Project Launchpad: The "Project Launchpad: Preparing for Your Final Year CS Project" session was organized by the Department of Computer Science on 14 June 2024 to guide final year BSc Computer Science students through the critical stages of their final year projects.
Recharge and Rejuvenate: The "Recharge & Rejuvenate" programme was organized by the Department of Computer Science to promote physical fitness and overall well-being among students on 11 June 2024.
Mind Matters: The Mind Matters aimed at Cultivating Mental Well-Being and Mindfulness in College Life session was organized by the Computer Science Department for final year BSc Computer Science students to promote mental well-being and mindfulness among students on 11 June 2024.
Power Booster: The "Power Booster" placement training session, conducted over three days (30th, 31st May & 1st June 2024), focused on enhancing soft skills crucial for professional success. This training was facilitated by Mr. Akhilesh A, whose engaging and activity-oriented approach ensured a highly productive experience for all participants.

Dream to Study Abroad: Department of Computer Science organized a one hour session on Dream to Study abroad by Hayden Institute, Thrissur on 15 September 2023.
E-poster Making: As a part of the Anti-ragging Week celebration, the Department of Computer Science conducted an intra-department e-poster competition on 21 August 2023.
Think Different, Do Different: Department of Computer Science and Post Graduate and Research Department of Economics in association with Institution's Innovation Council had conducted a seminar on My Story-Innovation on the topic "Think Different, Do Different: My Innovation Journey" 0n 31 July 2023.
Two Day International Conference: The two-day international conference was held on February 23rd and 24th, 2023. The first day of the International Conference was held at Lissieux Hall. The conference continued in Marian Hall on the second day. The conference was attended by researchers, experts, students and teachers from different colleges, who gathered to share their knowledge and expertise on the applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in various fields. The conference was inaugurated by Ms. Uma Kattil Sadasivan.

As part of the First year induction programme, the Department of Computer Science organised an industry motivation session on “IT Trends & Opportunities after Covid Era” on 19 September 2022 from 9.30 AM to 10.30 AM at Computer Lab, Lisieux block. As part of First year induction programme, the Department of Computer Science organised an alumnae motivation session on “What the future holds for you: Career scope in Computer Science” on 22 August 2022 from 2 to 3 PM at Computer Lab, Lisieux block. Ms Shani Antony, Lead Consultant, Infosys, Technopark, Thiruvanathapuram was the resource person.

Tiranga - Food Challenge
As part of Independence Day Celebrations, the Department of Computer Science conducted a Tri-Color food activity called Tiranga - Food Challenge. 26 Students from BSc Computer Science, MSc Computer Science, and BVoc Web Technology actively participated in the event.The submitted entries were really heart touching and it blew patriotism in our minds.
Independence Day Kid’s Fancy Dress competition - 2021
On August, 2021, Department of computer science, Vimala college, Thrissur held a Fancy Dress Competition for age 1-8 years kids as part of 75th Independence Day. The competition's goal was not only to combine learning and fun, but also to instill confidence in students by giving them the opportunity to stand on stage and speak in front of an audience. The goals were to assist lower primary students in overcoming stage fright, bringing out their inner talent, providing a platform for them to build self-confidence, and exploring their inner strength. The theme is Independence Day, National Leaders, Tricolor props, Patriotic Props, Freedom fighters. The contest was done as two session , one session is for std 1-3 kids and other session is for PreKG-UKG students by 141 kids.
The activities of the association are inaugurated officially on 22 June 2021, 10 AM. Mr Shailesh Shivan, M.Tech, PhD was the chief guest and delivered a session on Data & Business Analytics. Dr Sr Ritty J Nedumapara presided over the function. Students showcased their talents through various online programmes.

On account of Computer Literacy Day on Dec 2nd 2020, the Department conducted the following programs.
A documentary on Your favourite software celebrity was conducted for High school and Higher Secondary School students. 14 teams participated from various schools in Kerala and from other states.
The activities of the association are inaugrated officially on Nov 11th 2020 at 2 pm. Dr. Radhakrishnan K, Asso. Professor, NSS College Ottapalam was the chief guest and delivered a session on LaTeX - Typesetting Program. The students showcased their talents after the talk. The freshers day was conducted on 12th November at 2 pm. The seniors warmly welcomed the newcomers and performed various entertaining activities.
The inauguration of M.Sc Computer Science was held on 15th Oct 2020 by Prof Dr. K K Jose, Former Principal, St. Thomas College Palai. Principal Dr. Sr. Beena Jose presided over the function andVice Principal Dr Sr Beena T. L felicitated the occasion.

A talk on "Just be happy always!!" was conducted on 2nd Sept 2020, aiming at improving students mental capability to handle stress and adverse situations in life with a positive attitude. The resource person of the session Ms. Vaishnavi Reghuraman is a certified Reiki Practitioner from Bangalore and the alumnae of the department.
Online Placement training "Reinforcement" was conducted for final year students from 1st to 5th Sept 2020 through Google Meet, with an objective of improving their soft skills and interpersonal communication.The training equipped the students with an awareness on the etiquettes while facing the interview and during Group discussion. It also aimed to improve their communication skills in English. Mr. Dixon A. K, Director of “Catalyst - A centre for holistic development” was the resource person of the training. Ms. Sareena Rose coordinated the training sessions and certificates were awarded to the students.
The department conducted Riti 5.0, the intercollegiate IT Fest in online mode in the wake of pandemic Covid-19. The II yr B.Sc Computer Science students and Ms. Sreekala M were in charge of the event. 193 participants registered and four events were conducted. The winners were awarded cash prizes and e-certificates.
A technical talk on “An insight into writing a research paper and cracking UGC NET/JRF in Compuer Science” was organized as two sessions on 02nd Jan and 04th Jan 2021 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
